One of the most common concerns those who would like to build a Booster have is the electronics integration.

It’s not that hard, we promise! The fit-kit is designed around the use of a standard Mk4 VW Golf GTI engine wiring harness which is modified to plug and play with the standard Boxster chassis harness. The modification primarily involves harvesting the two original engine harness connectors from the M96 engine wiring harness and crimping them to the VW engine harness along with the addition of the seperate VW T14A connector.

All the parts required to do this are included with the Enhanced Fit kit, including connectors, terminals and crimps along with a wire to wire guide, tool guide and general how to. In addition plug in extensions are included which allow the use of the Mk4 Golf engine harness with the longitudinal inlet manifold required.

In total modifiation of the wiring loom takes an afternoon.

When it comes to ECU choice there are two options available which depend entirely on the spec of the engine you wish to fit. For power outputs up to and around 300bhp a standard Golf ME7.5 ECU can be used, the only modification required is an “immob delete” modification which is available for a wide array of aftermarket VW tuners. For power outputs over 300bhp it is recommended that an Ignitron aftermarket ECU is used, this allows for deletion of the mass air sensor and supports power outputs well over 500bhp. A base “Booster” start up file is available on request for this ECU.

The only modification on the chassis side is the fitment of a 996 or 986 DBW throttle pedal and the addition of a loom to link this to the ECU. No modification to the standard Boxster chassis harness is required and elements such as the check engine light, rev counter and coolant temperature gauge operate as standard.
